Where do your new clients come from?

Sometimes when we ask this question we get a “huh?”other times we hear answers like:

    • Referrals
    • Networking
    • Events
    • Speaking
    • LinkedIn

Knowing where our new clients come from is really essential to be able to build a system of repeatable attraction for clients.

I don’t know about you, but I have struggled with trying to find the right people who needed me, help them understand what I do, and then convert them from prospects into clients.

What I’ve found over time and with experience is that, even with referrals, you can have a system that can be repeatable and predictable and that leads to the happy dance of a business owner.

Okay, so maybe it’s also better cash flow and increased confidence.

And when our confidence increases in our business, our clients’ results increase, and our overall joy of running our businesses increases.

So let’s talk about how you get confident about the source of your new clients.

First things first, there is no shame, “should-ing” or “shoot, I should have, could have…” here. If you don’t currently have a system, that’s okay.

Start by thinking about how you could make your existing lead source systematized.

One of the secrets with referral business is that you CAN systematize it.

One of the top things you can do is make sure you are the easiest to refer.

How do you do that? Well, first be able to articulate very clearly what you do and who you do it for so other people can say it about and for you.

Second, equip your referrals with something to use to refer you. A business card is fine, but sometimes giving them a landing page, a little postcard, or something unique to your business is all it takes. Make it easy for them to spread your information.

And then make sure you’re staying in touch so that they know the latest things you’re offering.

This way they can be thinking about the connections between their network and you.

So even if your clients come from referrals, there’s a way to systematize it, make it predictable, and help it fuel the joy in running your business.
