What’s Your Sales Process?

    Let’s talk sales…

    What did you think when I said sales?

    Did you think used car salesman?

    I think that’s where most of our brains go, we think things like “Oh, I’m not good at sales. I don’t like sales. Sales isn’t my type of vibe.”

    But as it turns out, the term “sales” has just been misused and misrepresented.

    We may think of sales as sleazy, but let’s face it, there are some sales interactions we actually like and get excited by.

    I’m actually very pleased to enter into into some sales conversations where I want the end result:

    • A new pair of yoga leggings with pockets?! Yes.
    • Flashy fun earrings? Super yes.
    • Things that I need in my business when I know I have a problem and I know somebody can solve it? I’m really happy to talk about how we get to that end result through your sales process.

    There are sales interactions that are beneficial for everyone.

    What we need to change is our idea of sales and make sure our process matches.

    We have this idea in our mind that sales is all about us. But it’s not.

    Sales is a process for both you and your client. It is your opportunity to serve your client and take them step by step through a decision making process to get them the results they want.

    As Brene Brown has said, “Clear is kind.”

    And if you don’t have a defined sales process, it’s not actually serving you or your client, it’s not being kind to them.

    So think about the steps that you need to qualify your client. Think about the steps that they need to figure out if this is the right decision for them.

    This should NOT be a high pressure sales situation, but one that helps your client see if you’re what they are after. And the same goes for you; you need your sales process to help YOU see if this potential client is what you are after.

    So having a process for achieving that is a win-win. It’s actually serving your clients. It’s being kind to them.
