Are you keeping your to-do list in your inbox?

That’s not what email is for!

I get it, there is nothing better than checking off everything on your to-do list.

But…if you are keeping your to-do list in your inbox, I don’t think you are getting that feeling very often, am I right?

Here’s the thing – the only way to stay in charge of your priorities for the day is to a separate to-do list or project manager from your email.

    So how does that work?

    Step 1.

Put your to-do list ANYWHERE but your email. Write it on a piece of paper, put it in a project manager like Asana or Trello, use a whiteboard, a post-it, your phone app, a stone tablet – it doesn’t matter, just not in your inbox!

    Step 2.

Close your inbox. I know, sounds simple, but definitely isn’t easy. Here at FieryFX, all of our project and to-do information goes into our project manager, no questions asked. We don’t email each other, clients don’t email us, we don’t track tasks in Slack or over text message, we only use our task manager.

This takes some “stick-to-it-ness” and perseverance, but let me tell you – on the other side, you can actually check off everything on your list, you can stay on task in the first place, there’s not mid-task prioritization when you hear that ding and see a new “urgent” email come in that interrupts you. It’s a beautiful thing.

Try this out, move your task list OUT of your inbox and into your other preferred method, then let me know how that goes for you, did you LOVE that feeling of checking everything off?
