Does Your Website Need an Update…Or a Redesign?

    Here’s the truth…

No one wants to take on a website redesign unless they have to…but how do you figure out which one you need?

First, let’s talk about a rule of thumb of how often a website needs an update: about every 2 years.

Now don’t freak out!  Your business changes, technology changes, things change and websites need to keep up.

Keep that in mind and now let me help you understand the difference between an update and a redesign.

To understand the difference, let’s try an analogy:

Think about a house. A website update would be like hiring an interior decorator, painting walls, changing furniture. We’re not talking about the structural integrity, we’re just freshening up.

On the other hand, a redesign is more like a renovation, you’re taking out a few walls, gutting the house, maybe even starting over.

So when do you need each one?

If your website is technically sound (it’s not crashing, you aren’t having any tech issues), its functionality still suits your business, it provides a good user experience, and is less than 2 years old, you probably just need an update.

If you’re having the opposite of one or more of these factors, then you’re probably a candidate for a redesign.
