Skillful Asking: Get the Right Information From Those You Ask
How can make sure you get the right information and help (not just things you’ve heard before) from the person you’re asking?
When you are ready to start asking people for something, you’ve gotten clear on what you are asking for, and you know who you are asking, you also want to frame it in a way that helps them give you the information you are looking for.
So you might give them info about:
- What you’ve already tried
- The types of solutions you are looking for
- The options you are currently considering
This could sound something like “I’m really lacking leads in my business and I’ve already tried Google and Facebook ads and hired someone for LinkedIn and none of it has worked out. I’m currently considering a marketing strategy or hiring a virtual assistant.”
You can see that I’ve framed it so that it’s clear to the person I’m asking what I have already tried and what I am considering.
That gives people a place to start and they may suggest an alternative option that is sparked by something you mention.
So there you have it! You are ready to start asking!
Of course if you are looking for more support or information about marketing, technology, and/or the art of the ask, DM me or schedule a consultation call to ask for what you need!
